Starting our 8th year of homeschool today! We don’t really stick to age/grade “norms” necessarily, but Tyler is doing 9th/10th grade curriculum this year, so 9th grade it is. With Emily heading to college in a couple of weeks, he gets Mama’s full attention. It’s going to be a great year! Not sure if we are still the “Our Moving House Academy Roadrunners”, but we are rolling forward anyway! 😂 He even humored me and took a “First Day” picture. 🙂 Love this kid! In today’s episode of Rebuild Your RV…😂…We got the back wall glued on. Paul came up with this apparatus to hold it all in place until the adhesive has dried. That was another problem we had before. The back wall had come away from the 2x2s it was supposed to be glued to. We shouldn’t have that problem this time! We also got 3 of the 4 pieces of trim back on the edges before we began to lose daylight. We are so stinking close! We have 2 days of rain in the forecast, so I’m not sure if we’ll get any work time on the outside until Tuesday. We still have plenty to do inside as well. Hoping we can wrap this “little project” up this week! Very productive day today! All holes are patched, new insulation installed, lights are all working, and new bottom seal is in place. It’s supposed to rain tomorrow 😬, so everything is tarped up, strapped up, and taped up until the weather clears up. 🙏🏻 Happy with how it’s coming together. It’s fun to see the progress at the end of each day! Anxious to get it finished! We didn’t get a lot of time to work on the RV today because it’s Monday. But, we did get a few big things done after work. We realized that the 2x4 we put in on the bottom was supposed to be a 2x2, so we had to backtrack a little bit and rip it down to the right size. We got the protective tarp piece that wraps around the bottom of everything in place and stapled in. Then, we put the plywood piece in the giant hole and the left side 2x2 piece in place and screwed to the aluminum frame before we ran out of daylight. We ordered new outer trim pieces and top corner pieces because the ones we took off were in bad shape and part of the reason we had this issue in the first place. Those will be here Thursday/Friday. Tomorrow evening, I think we’ll be working on getting all of the cables and wires for taillights, etc. put back together and in the right places and also getting the back piece that’s laying in the garage built back out a little bit with a thin plywood and ready to go back on! We also have insulation to replace everything that was wet and had to be removed. It’s a process, but so far, things are looking good! It’s amazing the difference from when we first started this project! I see camping trips in our near future! 🙂🙏🏻❤️ We got so much done today! Lots and lots and lots of scraping, cleaning, and prepping all of the pieces so they will have clean surfaces to apply new seals, etc. Paul worked on cleaning the back roof area while I applied wood hardener to the back of the back wall where we lost some layers of the ply backing due to rot. Then we flipped the back wall over and scraped all of the old adhesive off the edges and cleaned it up good with acetone. While Paul was doing more cleaning, I mowed the grass. Once everything was prepped, we started cutting wood to replace the rotted pieces we pulled out. New “noggins” for the ladder to attach to, new 2x4 piece across the bottom, and new 2x2 pieces to repair the “studs” are in. We weren’t able to get the plywood piece on to seal it up because we have a section of adhesive that needs to dry first. But…we got a good amount done today. Feeling really good about it! Paul and I have been working on the RV all day (pictures coming later) and I asked Tyler if he would figure out supper for us. I told him there was cash in my purse, so I figured he would grab a frozen pizza from across the street. But…he came up with fried eggs, tomatoes, and bacon on these sandwich rolls. So good! In today’s adventures of Project Rebuild Our Moving House…😂…we got all of the rotten wood removed. 🙌🏻 That already feels so much better! Paul has been saying for years that he wishes there was a window on the back wall of the bunk room. 😂 I’m not sure this was exactly what he had in mind. 🫣 Anyway, we ran out this evening and got supplies to make the necessary repairs so that we can put it all back together. It’s like a giant puzzle! 🧩 We are fairly confident that we won’t screw this up. 😂🤷🏼‍♀️ I think it’s hilarious that the tarp we have to cover it is camouflage…like the giant deconstructed back end of our RV is hidden or something. 😂 Well, that was fun! Good news is…it’s not as bad as it could be. Bad news is…the parts that are bad are REALLY bad. Basically, one of the “protective” corner trim pieces on the back of the RV had a crack in it (probably made worse by the extreme winter temps here) and allowed water to seep and track into the back wall of the RV. 😬 Feeling very blessed that we aren’t living in it right now and that we have a great place to work on it. We made a lot of progress this evening. We’ll just keep pressing on and get it fixed. Every time we repair something, it ends up better than it was to start with, but hopefully it won’t take too long! I’m ready for a camping trip! 🙏🏻
