In Hindsight

Summer in Texas…never say never.  I didn’t think we would ever do this again, but here we are.  It hasn’t been terrible, but I’ve had a couple of minor meltdowns…no pun intended! 🙂

There have been several events that have happened that have made it very obvious why God had impressed upon our hearts to stay close to home for a while longer.  You can read about how that came to be here, here, and here.  Say what you want about faith and listening to the voice of God, but reading back through the last 3 blogs I wrote, with hindsight, is so cool!  I encourage you to do it if you haven’t already.  I love the way God has led us and guided us through this year, and I’m so thankful we are walking closely with Him to listen!

A little update on the kids:

Our oldest daughter, Vicky has had two iron infusions to help with her anemia.  So far, they seem to be helping.  We’ve also adjusted her diet to get her a little more nutrition since her Crohn’s Disease isn’t giving her immediate problems with inflammation.  She is actually with us this week on a little getaway.  This is the first trip in our almost 3 years full-time she’s been able to make with us.  Not sure it’s what she thought it would be.  It’s definitely not a vacation for us…it’s real life.  LOL!  We still have to work, etc., but she got to take a week off of work, and we’ve got a couple of fun things planned over the next couple of days.

Emily had a fabulous time at her first camp of the summer.  It was a leadership camp called Super Summer, designed to teach students to know and share the gospel.  She loved hanging out with other teenagers who know and love the Lord the way she does. She made tons of new friends and came home fired up for Jesus!  It was just what she needed.

Tyler is attending a Vacation Bible School at a local church close to where we are camped this week.  He’s had a ball.  He will attend Kid’s Kamp next week with our home church, and is so excited.  This will be his first time to go to camp as a “camper”.  He is very familiar with camping and church camp, as we spent time the past two summers at Camp Chautauqua, but I know this will be an incredible experience for him.

Then, next weekend, we will be heading for the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  Looking forward to catching a Ranger’s game, which seems to be our tradition on our way out of Texas.

Emily’s second church camp is up that way and only about 10 minutes from where we’re staying, so we’ll just drop her off and pick her up at the camp.  Once she’s done, we will start our journey to the cooler part of the country!  YAY!

We have a ballpark idea of where we are going to go, but nothing really set in stone.  We have missed a few states in our previous travels that we would like to add to our sticker map.  There are also a few places we’ve been to, but would like to explore further.  We really have no plan or agenda aside from finding cooler temperatures for the rest of the summer.  Would you do that…go on a trip and not really have a destination in mind?  LOL!  Yeah…we’re a little crazy.  That’s ok.  🙂  I can’t wait to see where we go!  LOL!  All part of the fun!

We have not been bashful about sharing our faith journey along the way.  This whole experience has been a giant step of faith.  As a matter of fact, I believe that’s a big part of why we are on this path…to encourage others to stretch their faith, or maybe even discover faith for the first time.  There are times that are harder and more uncertain than others, but never once have I doubted that we are doing exactly what we are called to do.  It’s amazing to look back and see God’s hand guiding us every step of the way!

Can I offer a challenge?  God might not be asking you to sell/give away most of your possessions and move into an RV, but he might be asking you to do something else…something that will stretch you, that you can’t do on your own, that might seem crazy, something, that to accomplish it, you’ve got to have faith!  What is God calling you to do in faith today?  Will you ask Him?  His answer might take you on a journey you never dreamed of!

If you have questions, would like to share your faith journey with us, or would like us to pray for you, we would love to hear from you!  Leave us a comment, message us on Facebook, or drop us an email at ourmovinghouse@gmail.com.  Blessings, friends!
